Online Poetry Events for Children & Families

Hi, I’m Simon Mole, and I’m a poet. I have 15 years experience using poetry and rap in education and community settings. I am a National Poetry Day Ambassador and the tutorial videos at my YouTube channel are used by hundreds of thousands of children and teachers across the world each year. This special series of events for children and families features some of my favourite poets writing for children today…

If you want to join any workshop or Open Mic event for free just fill in the sign up form below.

Writing workshops are suitable for children aged 5-11 years (some children have their grown up with them to support with scribing or tech).

We usually start with a few fun (and quite silly) warm up games to build confidence and skills, before I guide the group through a prompt-based writing exercise set out in a similar approach to the tutorial videos I make for my channel.

Open Mics are a relaxed poetry jam format with the chance for young people to share a poem of their choice alongside professional poets that write for children – this can be something they have written themselves, or a poem that they like by another writer.

These events will have a more cross-generational feel, so if you are a grown-up poet that writes for children and would like to join us to share a poem and listen to others then you are welcome to sign up!

Sign Up  below and I will send you the log-in details each month.
