Simon is a positive and inspirational artist whose work explores issues that are important to young people, in a way that is accessible to them.

He has over ten years’ experience using rap and poetry in community and education settings, including projects with National Literacy Trust and The Poetry Society.

Whether working with vulnerable elders, refugees or primary school children, Simon is a passionate believer that poetry can help anyone grow in self-belief, discover the power in their own voice, and think about the wider change that voice might bring about.

“My class have never been this inspired! They wrote so beautifully and happily…this is the most excited I’ve seen them. One girl who often struggles to focus wrote a gorgeous piece. I have poets and writers in my class now!”

— Teacher, Capital City Academy

"We wrote a poem in ten minutes! I thought it took like years to do poems"

— Hugo, yr 3

“So many of my class couldn't believe how 'easy' it was to create something they were so proud of! It has also really supported our critical analysis of poetry in the comprehension sessions.”

— Teacher, Lochinver House School

Simon’s YouTube channel is home to his popular interactive poetry tutorials, which are used by hundreds of thousands of teachers and children across the world each year and have been featured on BBC Bitesize.

Simon has recently partnered with National Literacy Trust to create a five lesson poetry learning sequence for key stage 2. The ‘Digital Poet in Residence’ project includes 10 new interactive videos, and is available to download for FREE here.

Simon is a National Poetry Day ambassador and was commissioned by them to create video resources in 2019 and 2020.
