Come Rhyme With Me - London
Friday, May 31, 2013
70 Exmouth Market
London, UK EC1R 4QP
Thanks to Come Rhyme With Me your socialising calendar can be filled with an evening of poetry and spoken word. The night takes place the last Friday of the month at Cotton’s restaurant, Islington and thanks to the imaginative minds of its founders, Dean and Deanna, the show takes inspiration from a meal and is served in ‘3 courses’. The starter consists of an up-and coming poet, followed by a meaty main of an experienced professional. Finally, dessert bears witness to something more light-hearted perhaps some cabaret, comedy or music.
The show starts at 7:00pm and finishes at 10pm with tickets at £7.50 for the show or £12.50 to include a plate of traditional Caribbean food. TSL suggest getting here early to get a comfortable seat at a table as well as staying after the show for some socialising!

Simon is the poet from the pub, that rapper from the beach, the friendly guy with the big eyes who told that story. His infectious enthusiasm for seeing and re-seeing the world around him is an open invitation for you to do the same. Some stuff he says is mad funny, everybody gets it, plus he speaks from the heart, and his love for the craft of writing is there for all to see. Get involved.
Stephanie is a poet and law student from Singapore, currently based in London. Born in 1987, she has been writing poetry ever since her first gerbil died in 1999.She is also the current UK Slam Champion. She currently performs poetry in many locations around London, sometimes other parts of the UK, and (when she gets to go home) Singapore. She co-hosts Hammer and Tongue Slam Hackney and Forget What You Heard (About Spoken Word), a poetry night which she started with Matt Cummins. She claims her poetry comes from the raising of an eyebrow at the absurdity of the world, being angry, being absurdly angry, making fun of at what makes her angry and growing up with a lot of animals.
Tolu is a Performance Poet with a commanding, heart-felt voice that doesn’t shy away from discussing difficult matters. The candour of her positive message sets her apart, and currently has her making waves, on the London performance scene.
