In May 2010 myself and Raymond Antrobus were commissioned to set up and establish a forum for emerging poets at Keats House, where young poets could share and develop our writing, as well as supporting each other to further establish ourselves as ‘career poets’.
As one of two ‘lead artists’ on this forum, I facilitated sessions and guided the forum in our planning of workshops and events. One key element of this was to head up our small team to curate, market, and host monthly performance events at Keats House – ensuring that as well as honouring the poetry of the past, the museum is also recognised as a platform for the poetry of the future…
We’ve had some amazing poets come along to headline (including Inua Ellams, Roger Robinson, Derrick Brown, Aoife Mannix, Jacob Sam Le Rose, Kat Francois, Niall O’Sullivan, Sam Riviere, and Bohdan Piasecki) and our Sunday afternoon events are now well established as a friendly and relaxed place to catch top quality poetry for free!
If you’re a poet looking to perform at this prestigious venue, we always host an open mic too but spaces are limited so it’s best to arrive early to sign up!
